Here’s another idea I came up with while playing with standard D tuning. I’m really into doom metal and heavy stuff like Bison, High on Fire, Sleep, etc., as well as lighthearted music. Since I uploaded a clean, spacey idea last night, I figured I would upload something doomy and slow tonight.
I’m going to continue working on this and add some more ideas to it, but for now here it is in skeletal form. I’m calling it Rise of Sasquatch, because A) that’s brutal as fuck, and B) someone left a beef stick called the sasquatch in my house and it refused to mold over time, so why not name it after the beast-meat. Enjoy!
Added some delay to a basic clean tone, makes a space banjo sound when certain notes are hit at a certain speed with the delay. Don’t know what to make of this, but I think it’s a cool idea. It’s like hillbilly U2.

Oh shit bro, don’t freak out!
I’m a scheming little shit, and it should work out dandily if the masses are as dumb as I think they are…And no, I’m not killing anyone, blowing anything up, or starting a cult.
I just downloaded High on Fire’s “Snakes for the Divine” (a week early, at that!), and man…I’m floored. Even more disappointed that they aren’t coming through to the Bay Area on their tour, which is strange since they’re from Oakland…Still, so damn awesome so far.
My band got a new show. Yay. I’m excited but it’s in June, so I’m not super ecstatic yet. It’s in the Mission, hopefully a lot of hipsters show up and argue about who saw us first, and at the same time bitch about how our new stuff’s not as good as the old.
GPOYW Just finished dinner edition.
Had a fit earlier. I had my Rodney Dangerfield “get no respect” moment when my bassist/best friend told me yet another person doesn’t dig my guitar work. It’s his family member, so I knew there was some bias in there due to prior drama, but it really bugged me. I write most of the songs, I practice daily, I’m not terrible by any means, but this person feels I’m the bands “weak link.”
Learning to take criticism is the first rule of being a musician. If you’re a guitarist or a singer, you really need to learn how. It’s not that someone simply thinks I suck, or I can’t shred like Vai, or any of that. It’s that it was meant as something for me not to hear, as though I shouldn’t know that I’m not meant for someone’s musical taste buds. Upon hearing this, I went home, listened to our demos, and thought “what the fuck is she talking about?” I dig the shit out of what I do, even if others don’t. I guess I just wanted a reason as to why I’m supposedly not good. When someone has no reason, it’s baffling to me.
What I do love about hearing stuff like this is it makes me work even harder. For every person who rips my writing, I will write another song. For every person who doesn’t come to my show, I will book another one. I will keep going, because I don’t want to give others that satisfaction. I keep playing the guitar because no matter how much someone does or does not like certain songs, I get infinite joy from it, and as long as me and the boys in the band are rocking and feeling rad, I’m happy.
